just get one direct from aliexpress
Yea aliexpress has them and lots of other things that i don't need. Has anyone actually used one. How are the zips and seams?
Copies of MSR in some models, but I wouldn't want the risk of it breaking / leaking / zip breaking down on the first couple of days into a week trip on the west coast.
Right so they blew apart in the wind, thought you meant from your first comment that they just broke during setup or leaked from new. Makes you wonder how windy it was at the time, (lightweight 3 season tent) were the guy lines set out and tensioned correctly, were the pole ferrules all snugged up.
I've had a few tents with bent poles over the years (pushing them too hard in wind they weren't designed to withstand) but "touch wood" nothing with snapped poles.
I'm looking at EXPED tents
Don’t have an exped tent, but own a fair bit of their other gear and so far very impressed - very well thought out.
I have an exped Venus II It's a beautifully made tent very easy to use and lots of good features. Freestanding, fly first erection (good in the rain) Only thing it weighs a bit 3.1 kg with everything including a shit load of stakes. It has a 10,000 mm floor so no footprint needed mind you. Room for two and a vestibule each.
turns out the exped I want isn't available in NZ anymore, so would have to buy overseas and bring it in, or choose another brand. Option B is Terra Nova southern cross 1
Terra Nova are the business, I have a solar competition and it's had all sorts of abuse but still going strong, pretty impressive for a 1kg tent
