Grid to magnetic....Subtract. ie- grid bearing to magnetic bearing subtract the declination angle and vise versa.
BUT this only holds true when the declination angle is east of true north.
In other parts of the world the declination angle maybe west of true north and when this is so, everything is the opposite way around.
If you don't know the declination angle in your location then you can find it using the sun and a compass.
The stick in the ground shadow method will give you a true east/west line and hence a true north line. You can then use your compass to find the difference between the true north and magnetic north lines.
