    New Salewa Boots

Got up this morning to a new pair of Salewa Rapace GTX boots on the doorstep, bloody beauty!! this is my second pair of Salewa boots i have ordered from trekkinn.com . Ordered them on the 9 june and on my doorstep on the 19th so pretty good service coming from the Netherlands. My old pair have lasted well bought them 3 years ago, but found with the tread wearing down i'm slipping a bit on steep greasy tracks so time for new ones.
$380nz delivered so the price was $50 dearer than my first ones but theses are up around $580-600 retail in NZ now so too much for a tight ass like me!!
I have found them not quite as waterproof as a boot with a full leather upper but if ya keep the appropriate Nikwax treatment up on the gortex tongue they are pretty good and still good support around the ankles with a good aggressive tread on the sole.
I will never go back to a boot like Lower Tibets or Hanwags again , they are just too heavy for my ole legs especially when wet from river walkingName: 20240619_091355.jpg

Be careful publicly sharing overseas websites, the site I brought my tibets from years ago are no longer "allowed" to ship to nz. NZ distributor found out and complained to Lowa I think.

Eldest son recommended Salewa to me. Bought them after Lowas sh*t themselves. Never looked back unless to see if wifey was keeping up. Excellent boots.

Another +1 for Salewa boots. Borrowed a mates spare pair of the same Rapace GTX boots for a backup pair on a winter Tahr hunt last year. Loved them so much I ordered my own pair from Trekkin.com as soon as I got home from the trip!

Bloody good allrounder boot at a good price from that website

I īve used the exact pair for a total of 18 days hunting tahr in South Westland this autumn. I really like mine, and actually have three pairs. I have a slightly wide foot, and these fit me better than any other mountaineering model from any brand!

They became very wet on day 2, and stayed wet for my trip...Dried them out somewhat for trip nr two, but they got wet fairly quickly. Anyway, hard to avoid wet boots, especially in SW.

I find the sole to be a bit on the slippery side when on wet rock? I donī+t fully trust them under those conditions, so was careful in the creeks. For climbing they're terrific with the climbing sole with climbing zone under toe, along with being able to use semi automatic crampons! I didn't get to use the crampons on this trip.. but find they work very well with crampons. Very stable and light boot!

To top it off; I also ordered my two last pairs from Trekkin in the Netherlands, and received it in my mail in Norway in next to no time.

If you want a no-nonsence boot for alpine adventures - get these!

That's a tricky question . I was a bit worried about ordering boots i haven't tried on for size before, but went with the same size as my Hanwag boots i was using and they fit perfectly . I would call them a snug fit though so i would use Lowa/ Hanwag boots as a sizing guide. Whatever fits with them should be good with Salewas, that's what i found anyway . Salewas come with an extra insole so if they are a slightly loose fit you can put the insole in for a snugger fit. Hope that helps
