Used to. V comfortable. Wrap them well and you can keep water out your boots in a quick water crossing. Tie them up well though. They can come undone and get left behind somewhere in the bush.

Get your old Socks that are now a bit thin on the heel etc
Chop off the foot section and you have the perfect putty
Been using this for years now
How do they go with bidybids?
They end up looking like a bidibid snake!
Used cut up and stiched woolen blankets for a decade or so, in concert with Bullers. Old shoe lace sewn onto one end to secure them. Lovely warm calves, esp cutting across the tops in snow, or after crossing a winter temperature stream:)

According to my 5 sec google search 'The word puttee, is derived from the Hindu patti, meaning “bandage” or “strip of cloth.” Such puttees were first worn by members of the Anglo-Indian army in the late 19th century'.
Horse wraps are a hell of alot cheaper and do the same job, great with bullers, add alot of support, usually around $10 for a couple sets. Velcro to fasten them.
