    omeal review

So i had Chicken creole with brown rice. The concept sold it for me,the bag contains a heating pad, spoon and food. open heating pad place into bottom of bag put in the bag of food add water and watch it steam away. Fantastic but could not open food bag without knife, the little niks in the bag would not tear open. It tasted ok not great. I expected lots of rice but it was more like a thick soupe with a little rice and the person who put the chicken in the bag needs to stand closer as there was about 4 bits. It was a small portion gone pretty quickly. The heat pad retains a lot of water even after standing on it so the bag of rubbish is the same weight without the food. I think the portion of food was smaller than a back country single portion. Overall I was disappointed

On this subject, Countdown is selling backcountry meals quite a bit cheaper than the usual outlets. The packaging is plainer, but seems to be the same product. Maybe they have realised there is more money in millennials who can't cook than hunters/trampers!

I once was eating lunch at a friends house, and found the chicken soup they served to taste really really good.

I asked them the secret and the lady of house said "I just put extra chicken in."

The chicken content in most of these instant meals is usually no more than a rumour.

    Ahhh.
    Omeals are usa made
We tried the hash bacon breaky and a spag bol and chicken n beans meal for a 3 day trip
    Thought they were ok
    Small meals but calorie dense
Needed longer than the 5 min heat time tho.
Will look at other boil in bag options as back country while cheaper in supermarkets and once a gamechanger and no longer at top of my list
Oh...we took some bc smoothies with us this trip too.....shite as voted by all of us

The ‘kaweka’ boil in bag meals were awesome, but think they’ve gone out of business or no longer doing them

Yep they're out of business which is a shame. Been gone for near 2 years
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I make sure I'm really hungry before eating dehy meals. Also leave them 20-25 min wrapped in a jacket or beanie and then they are not quite so cardboardy (is that a word?) than if you leave it for just 10min.

Called go native meals. They do. An interesting thing where they sell an entire day's food pack for 30 bucks

I’ve had a few few radix meals, they are expensive but do have all the nutrients required for big days
