I have always had a good run out of samsung smart phones, have a s3 mini(mine) and a s5mini(work) I like the s5 mainly for the camera but it is too big even tho its a mini.

When I have to have the bosses Iphone in a case its that bloody big its ridiculous and operation is all arse about face back to front not intuitive at all, no doubt you would get used to the operation eventually but in a life proof it is just to bloody bulky, I would never have one for my own phone.

    Oh and big phones SUCK!!!

Also looking for a new phone.
Always had a good run from HTC(i'm not a gorillia with phones, but do use them. And drop them... - and havent had one really die, its more i want more, and the current one still does everything i now want, apart from hold a charge - i could buy a user replaceable battery, but i think 3 years is a great run, so new phone is needed ) - but open to anything else, apart from apple. Wife really wanted a itouch, iphone and we have a ipad. No way in hell would i have a apple device for work, so that rules out anything for me. Great cameras on them, and great quality of build (i have a gen 1 or 2 ipod, and it stil lives after being dropped, kicked, frozen to minus 42c, and so hot i couldnt hold it - really i am amazed it still works!) however the inflexiblity of file storage is the main let down

Android is the winner here hands down. Microsoft based devices are so un user friendly.

Maybe its just the way my brain works, but apple "trust us and give us everything" just doesnt compute very well. Google seems a bit more polite......
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....

Yeah thats one take on it and its not original... the other is that an integrated approach to both hardware and software design, yields higher user value and experience, better integration between products and higher functionality across hardware systems, and higher quality overall experience. So the premise that specialised providers assembling composite pcs can compete with superior integrated products, has never actually come to fruition. That part of the industry has always succeeded on the basis of widespread use and adoption of MS OS, not because of superior product.

Of course you will pay extra for an integrated approach..... but the systems last longer and generally perform better for their working life. Ask any university tech dept about mac hardware v PC platforms.... Iv'e had a pretty good run from my iPhones, but I look after them.

If you run pcs, take your pic... if you run macs why would you shoot yourself in the foot.... get an iPhone...

I agree with you on most of that.
Google does a pretty good job of integrating everything software wise - but you get the flexibility of choosing your hardware as well.

Run PC's for work so will stick with android rather than move over to apple

I posted a couple of reccomendations up above but the top two would be

    Nexus 6
Buy the Motorola Google Nexus 6 White LTE/4G 32GB storage 3GB Ram 6" QHD... (1031000178) online at PBTech.co.nz

Anything in the Xperia Z series
    Buy the Sony Xperia Z3 D6653 4G/LTE BLACK 5.2" Quad-core 2.5 Ghz 3GB RAM 20... (D6653 BLACK) online at PBTech.co.nz

The nexus is a better phione with a bigger screen but it's only water resistant. The Xperia is waterproof.

I have a Nokia Lumia 1520 and it's a massive beast but is my daily work computer while out on the farm, has a great camera and works well with all of my office software, windows phone 8.1 was pretty average and i love the tile layouts but has a lot of minor things that are really useless compared to android.
Latest Windows phone 10 however is stunningly good and is still yet to be released, any cheaper current gen lumia's that get the windows 10 update will be great value, especially if Windows desktop OS forces more apps to port over to windows phone

Is not that complicated, you just go into the app, select a folder and then choose who you share it with.

If you send a message by text it will shrink it to 300k so that awesome pic you took of that huge stag or your dong web will long look that impressive on your mate of mrs`s huge Android phone.

+1 on the iphone. If you're running a macbook &/or ipad it just makes everything so easy and you'll never lose your photos/contacts/old messages etc.

While your conclusion is valid the reasons for reaching it aren't. If you type your google account and password into your phone you get all your contacts/mail (gmail)/photos/photos (google photos) instantly from the cloud. Google basically invented cloud computing and Apple still haven't gotten to grips with it. If you log onto the web apps on your pc you have the same stuff or if you can install the desktop app if you choose. You can also run all these apps on a mac so owning a mac doesn't limit you to iOS.

The key difference between the two companies is google develop for all platforms (except windows phone). E.g. if you use imessage then you can't ever access that on a non iOS device. If you use google hangouts you can access that on a mac, pc, iPhone, Android pone or on a ZX81 with a web browser.

Choosing apple is a valid choice because they make very nice hardware but locking yourself into their closed ecosystem I personally think is a little limiting.
