The latest made for a friend after he bought a new knife.
A mish-mash of designs and styles because I have had to make it out of scrap pieces and offcuts and remains from other projects.
That said he also requested it be lined with nice soft suade which also makes it exponentially trickier to make tidily when the whole design is compromised due to lack of resources.
Also likes the laced look but didn't have enough to lace whole sheath hence the mixture of lacing/stitching. I justed tried to incorporate all the things he likes in some way.
That said I think it's turned out ok, a little quirky in looks but feels great in the hand and looks better in the flesh than the pics. The band around the top is the suade the sheath is %100 internally lined with and is fixed with hidden stitching then folded back over itself then continues down into the sheath internally.

Oddball-ish , but I like it

Just finished this up for a custom made knife. Owner was reluctant to post the knife so had to make it based on measurements only. Which is why I insisted it had a flap over top. Also wanted a lanyard for the handle.Waiting to hear back if it fit

First attempt at a lefty sheath, this one for a Manly Drugar (it came with a kydex sheath).

Pretty happy with the results, and learnt several good lessons along the way.

• riveted the belt loop for this one, next time I think I will sew it in
• figured out the correct sizing on the pattern for a nice tight fit (15mm seems to be the ticket)
• messing glue on leather is not a clever idea, it really shows up once you apply wax, grrrr
• with the welt, the edge is quite thick and getting stitching chisels through is "challenging", ended up using chisel on the show side and then drilling 1.5mm holes, bit skew on the back...

Looks good @ebf . The problem I find with rivets is they can mark/scratch the handle. The problem with stitching is the handle can rub through it and eventually break the thread. I guess it comes down to how nice the knife is and how hard the sheath will be used.

Good point. This one the handle can get scratched.

The next knife not so much. One of the youtube vids I watched the guys coats the interior stitching for the belt loop with epoxy to increase the durability.

Just finished up this pig sticker sheath. Made with heavy Buffalo leather. Guy didn't want any buckle or snap fitting so came up with this strap setup. Can hold the sheath upside down and shake it without knife falling out. Will be interested to see how it lasts.

I've been mucking around with a bit of leather, trying to create a simple clean and fast to produce pattern as an option for my knives. Have settled on a simple fold style sheath. Just need to get a punch made for branding now.

Really like working with leather, it's a super satisfying material to work with.

I heat a piece of conduit pipe up and flatten it around blade then put this inside my leather sheaths so knife CANNOT cut its way out or cut my legs AGAIN... little bit fiddly to ensure blade goes down into it when putting back in sheath,but peace of mind is worth it.

Made a sheath for the old el cheapo Mora today, anything's better than the plastic one it came with. I used an old piece of leather, mainly to check that my template was right, and I made a few mistakes that can be fixed on later models but it didn't come out too bad. I finish all my leather with bees wax / paraffin oil mix.



....also did some keyrings and bits and bobs...

@Nick-D something like that could work. Especially if you tuck it under the welt as well.

Exactly why I like the wrap-around sleeve for belt loops and using the Chicago screws gives ability to change loops out
On the last creation I did all the stitching for loop first then covered it with the suade lining.
