I have that one, Got it for $310 about 3 years ago, 10y battery life, comes with a case and a small mirror.
Its small enough to fit in a small pocket of my bumbag. Thumbs up from me.
Yep... should work just fine...
Will be fine 10year battery life is awesome too
Same as mine, when you get it register it with the RCC. Job done.
@veitnamcam I actually double checked, I paid $330 4 years ago so the price hasnt moved much, I got it from the below which is NZ coded.
Cheers
KTI Safety Alert SA2GN-NZ PLB New Zealand Coded | AdventureWare
Yep I got one too a couple of years ago. It's the only 1 with a 10 year battery life as far as I know. Was great service and arrived on my dorrstep 3 days after buying. NZ coded as well.
Got mine from here https://skippersmate.co.nz/kti-safet...-marine-pouch/
Got one here too from the same place as rugerman
Kti are good.
Yip got the same one, if you loiter on the kti website a few days they give you a discount code;) got mine fir $305
Yep they do work. I lost the first one in the kaimanawa and couple of years later got a phone call from rescue centre. It had gone off and while registered as lost they hadn't noted the location. After probably water getting in after 2 years it shorted out and went off. All good I know they work. Make sure that you register it.
Wasn't there a thread on here somewhere that noted comments from helicopter rescue crews, that the KTI had the highest rate of self activation, causing a lot of false call outs?
PS found the Stuff link. https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/103...ss-the-country
@veitnamcam
Well its on its way apparently.
Will keep an eye on the inadvertent activation but haven't had a problem with the one I have been sharing with Dad.
I hope so as I have been carrying mine around for a few years now haha
At that price ya silly not to have one really. Considering all the money we spend on our gear, this one can save your life.
Just don't trust the belt loop on the case. That's where mine tore off. Keep it in a belt pouch or something.
So I've been umm'ing and ahhh'ing about a PLB for awhile. and with the plan on going into this roar for a couple of week long trips I thought this year might be a good time to invest in a KTI PLB. Search for them online with no luck, found skippersmate and there's nothing. They've closed down and not selling KTI's anymore. OH NO! they were the good value PLB, correct? $360ish? what're my options now? $450+ $500?
Inreach mini?
I have an inreach but will always have my plb on me. The plb offers the fine homing signal that the inreach does not. At a pinch you could hire a plb for immediate trips?

Oh weird, someone must be selling the KTI still ? it's the only 1 with a 10 year battery life so I would have a hunt for one of them.
Here's a blurb on the bottom of their page. Could be worth chasing up with the new owners of the tech.
The product design and future ownership rights have been taken over the world's first EPIRB manufacturer - Norwegian company - Jotron AS.
Jotron have over 50 years of Maritime GMDSS business experience and have some great plans for product enhancements that will bring the Safety Alert PLB into the latest search and rescue technology .
Sorry team. The KTi PLB is no longer. The company had difficulties late last year and stopped production back in Sept. Jotron have taken the design rights for the PLB, however nothing will be seen on the NZ market from them for some time - if not until next year.
The only options on the NZ market are the ACR, Ocean Signal, McMurdo and GME
We have switched to the ACR NZ coded unit and the Ocean Signal Au coded on our store. If you are interested for a "mates rate", send me an email: peter@cooeebay.com or PM me.
FYI: https://skippersmate.co.nz/kti-epirbs-plbs/
There was a thread last week on Kti closing down.
Gearshop still had their beacons listed at the time.

I recommend going through locatorbeacons.co.nz
Anything they stock will be suitable.
Would be good to know as also have a kti which only has a couple of years left on the battery
The batteries can be replaced, You can send them away to the supplier for replacement or else DIY if you know what you are doing :P
Shelf life is typically more than 10 years, but to be on the safe side they give the units a 10 year battery lifespan.
Most of the pocket sized ones these days just contain a readily available CR123A battery.
I've tagged the supplier in my original message, the manufacturer of KTI ceased operations a couple of years ago.
