    PLB story

Can't go in to details, but was chatting with someone who had good reason to set off their PLB. SAR phoned their emergency contact to get more information. The emergency contact said they were fine because they had received a text from them 5 minutes earlier saying everything was OK. A lot happened in the following 5 minutes and the individual concerned no longer had mobile reception. Moral of story, tell your emergency contacts not to say you're OK unless absolutely certain!

All OK in the end, but by sheer luck rather than design despite being well prepared and having the good sense to carry a PLB.

Good info, just relayed to my wife this situation and if I push the button I need help no matter how well I was doing a few minutes earlier.
