I use one of these, cheap as chips & super compact.

one cant beat a good stone but these little diamond laps like the one Sika 8 put up are great for a little touch up but caution they can be tough on the blade if overused lol

there are some with opposing tugsten blades- I put them in the same category as an angle grinder - they gouge steel off - a very old rusty knife and desperate go on then but not a good knife no no non

The sharpeners with the opposing blades in a V shape are very hard on blades. They are mostly shaped for 30 degree plus edges.

If you use a stone and sharpen to a fine edge at home, it would destroy it.

In my opinion to rough for a good knife.
I like the second option and third in the next posts more.

The diamond "jewel sticks" are hit and miss i recon. If your blades stainless steel the coating comes off pretty quick.

Wouldn't want to slip doing that. Could be embarrassing...

I have been known to find a nice smooth bluestone rock while out in the whops, they can do a surprising amount of work for you if carefully used. The smooth ones are roughly about 250-300grit depending on the geology of the area and the types of rock present ah-hum!

Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.

can take the belt out and stand on it and do it safe easy enough good thing is cant loose, it brake it or misplace it normally just undo it pull it around and quick few pass's and its good to go concentrate doing the proper sharpening back at camp over a beer which is more risky haha

I use a lansky, then when I head out I just take the yellow stone with me for touchups. light, compact and if you drop it, very easy to see.
