I'll often have a Svord Mini Peasant knife on me. 2.5" blade. Nothing flash at ~$25, but keeps a good sharp edge. Has dealt to good few deer now too

Only trick is no locking on the blade, just the extended tang that is kept in place by your hand grip. Works fine for me but might not be for everyone.

Plus one for the Peasant, pretty good bang for buck. I got it in a bright colour too so if I put it down I can spot it easily. Then again, at less than $25 it's not the end of the world if I have to replace it.

I like my peasant as well, went with the wood one and feels great to use and holds a nice edge.
