    Possum fur ushanka?

    The lady says that she is not interested in helping me out with my quest.

    I have found a pattern online and it is easy enough to shoot a few possums.

    Anyone tanned a possum skin to be soft enough for a hat?

    I was thinking either have the outer skin possum, middle some sort of soft fluffy padding and the part that touches the head as a nice cheap soft fabric

    Thoughts?

    I have always tanned thin skins with a paste of Baking Soda and Kerosene. It works well but the leather is not super strong, good enough for a hat.
