I wrote the review. Granted, it was fairly brief, but I'll do a more comprehensive field-review in due course.
I'm going to be helping bring Miklagaard clothing to the NZ market. I'm doing it purely because I think their clothes are absolutely incredible. Old world quality, with a modern spin (silicon treatment to make the felted wool even more weather resistant). I guess I'll have to sign up as a vendor on the forum.
The wool-felt fabric Miklagaard uses was all obtained from the Swedish military. It's as close to tear-proof as you'll get. It's supremely breathable, despite being very warm (it's got two massive hip zips on either side, and the collar can be opened right up). It's NOT a sub-zero garment, although it can definitely be used in very cold conditions.
The Anorak Abisko, in particular, is as close as you'll get to an original Swanni bush shirt, but far more weather resistant and durable. It's the kind of thing you'll be passing down to your kids. I'm not exaggerating. With all the cost-cutting and forced product obsolesce going on these days, Miklagaard's clothing is a breath of fresh air. Definitely geared towards the non-gear head hunter/farmer who just wants to buy once/cry once.
What separates Miklagaard even more form the competition is that they can tailor-make the clothing to fit your unique measurements (for a small fee - be about $50-100 bucks extra). Lead time for a custom garment is about 4-6 weeks. Pockets can be added or removed. Zips can be added etc,etc. Otherwise, they've got standard sizes available via their website.
For $650-700 bucks NZD, it's a bargain considering it'll probably last you a good few decades.
You've got no seam tape, water-proof coatings, laminated membranes, Velcro etc to worry about. Everything is super solid. And it's fire retardant too! So you can chill out around the campfire, or use the stuff in your workshop.
I'll be obtaining fabric samples in the coming weeks, and will be able to send them out to interested people.

I’m using one of the green swandri lace front bush shirts and love it, bought it about 5 years ago. I treat it with a water repellent. It’s silent for bush hunting, doesn’t sweat and it’s tough as. Might be heavier than the fancy jackets some guys prefer but probably $300 cheaper as well.Quote:
