Looking at getting one of these.
What is peoples experience of them ?.
Do you need to seam seal them?.
Ran a search and most threads 3-4 years old interested if anything has changed over time.'
Thanks in advance.

Anything Rab is good to go, you won’t be disappointed. Once my hootchie dies I’ll be getting a siltarp. If your wanting one outfitters has 40% off everything
I have a sil tarp 3. Nice and light with plenty of room.
Recommend.
Yes you do need to seam seal them. H&F have em for $220 at the mo. Great piece of kit.
Have used one and was great. Very light and because I didn't quite set it up right it had a massive pool of water on in. Handled it fine. It had not been seam sealed, completely as supplied.
I havent seam sealed mine yet still worked wll tthough. Migh have to do that.
Twin needle used to do a good one.,had a rab 2 and found it a bit small for 1man,pack dog and gear for overnight if the weather turned to crap, the twin needle is a bit bigger all round .
If got one I found there enough room for 2 & a dog in wet weather done a few time but they do need to be seam sealed mine lecked in healve rain light rain was all good
Haven't used mine in a lot of rain but definitely no leaking so far.
It is a bit bigger than I need for one person.
Very light.
The main weight is guy ropes you hang off it. I've got 4mm on the corners and a very light cord on the side guys.
I use a thin spectra line as ridge rope. Again, you could carry a rope that weight more than the fly if you're not careful.
This was last night's camp. It can be a bit tricky fitting it between trees so smaller is better sometimes.

This is my one person Sil-Tarp. Could have well been the first one in NZ and its had a lot of work. Has never leaked and no sign of deterioration (and not seam sealed). Size is fine so long as you pitch it low enough for the wx not to drive in. Packs smaller than a coke can.
Thanks for all the advice.
Will let you know how I get on when I get one.
Haven't been to town yet.
Have a look at the outfitters website, I think the big sale is on and may save you a trip
What are you guys using for a ground sheet under your pads? Tyvek?
