What are they like, they feel quite stiff on the foot but are comfy, will they last the distance?

Got some a couple of days ago (probably from the same place you saw them ;) ) but haven't really tried them out yet. They seem good and solid though, Scarpa stuff usually is.
I would say you did see them where i did, I had Irish Setter elk trackers but the stitching is starting to go so went to get another pair and seen them there.
I have 4 pairs of Scarpas, one over 20 years old and one is the Mantra GSb (similar to the escape). Bloody hard wearing solid boot.
any one else using scarpas?? do they hold up well?
went boot shopping last weekend best fit was the scarpa activ sl followed by some lowas
They told me today that the Lowa partners have had a bust up and one keep the Lowa brand and the other has a boot company out called Han Wag, they have them in store now.
I have a pair of SL M3s. Excellent. From what I have heard from the stores that sell boots, the Scarpas will outlast most other brands.Quote:

Had a look at those, seem good quality too. I've had a great run from La Sportiva, my Makalus have lasted about 12 years (used mostly for rougher stuff, I've gone through 3 pairs of lighter/softer tramping boots in that time as well) and the upper is still good but the soles are getting worn. The Scarpa Escapes seem about as stiff but a chunk lighter, if they last anywhere near as long I'll be a happy boy.Quote:

I bought the Scarpa Kinesis on sale the other day. So damn solid - feel bomb proof. But that's what I wanted. Sole hardly bends as you walk haha - very comfy on a 1hr walk other day to start breaking them in.
Went with Scarpa after seeing a lot of praise for them on various forums.
Had a couple of walks in mine now to start them breaking in - pretty good all round, nice stiff grippy sole and comfy fit. They don't hold my heel quite as well as my Makalus, but thats just a foot shape thing so might not apply to anyone else. Not quite as much ankle support as the Makalus either, but still plenty compared to most boots.
Went and got the Scarpas today, put a pair of Bridgedales on and they just felt great on.
Hope they feel as good after 10+ hours on the hill, $395 was a bargain.

How are they going hope they are holding up ? I got mine off Savagehunter . Can't believe how stiff the soles are , like walking in ski boots ! I guess I'll get used to them
Mine are going great, took a few trips to break in but you get that - if a boot doesn't need breaking in then its too soft!
Still just the 1 hunt on mine, work has gotten in the way the last 2 weekends.
anyone had problems with the soles? Ive had a pair of these for about 8 months.
they have a toe crampon hole thingy(where a type of crampons fit into the toe) and the sole here has worn down to the metal plate.
also the sole at the heel has peeled off on both boots,just finished gluing them back on.
alot of guys at work have these boots and have the same problems
Yeah they are, haha. They loosen up though. Done a day trip and a two day trip in mine now and they feel really great.Quote:
