Anyone got one? Good? Alternatives?

Alternatives would be lansky and copys from china for about 20 bucks.
I have the latter.
Does the job very well

Done 90 percent of the knives here(full day on the sharpener) but they all needed ripping back to a fine angle, have cracked the coarsest stone(dropped it) but still usable.
Stones do wear realitivly quick but with any stone if they dont wear they load up and become useless.
It has its limitations, long blades are best done in stages but for 20 something bucks is sale of the century as far as I am concerned.

Should have bought a Scary!
Boom, cough,cough,cough
The Money they charge for an incredibly simple bit of gear I would make my own if the choice was that or buy a scary sharp at full retail.
I make stuff for a living and would rather go fishing/hunting/family stuff in my weekends than do what I do for a living for myself on the weekends unpaid, if I was working on a sat that 20 bucks would pay to open up the shop and thats it.

Was looking at the genuine article in action at the Sika Show. The only tricky thing in it is the rotating mechanism that holds the blade clamp- looked close tolerance. The rest is a very simply fabrication job at a quick glance.
But as VC says, Just because ya can doesn't mean ya should
Geoff did a nice job on my knife, guess the quality and small production runs don't make them cheap!

Jeremy has one I think if you want to have a go with one
To get a blade back to original angle I use a lansky, after that I use a strop and paste, a good quality knife does not need much sharpening, usually after several deer,In the field I use my leather belt to touch up.
I have one of Geoffs Mark 1 versions. Yes awesome. The new one makes it even easier/ quicker. He's a top bloke as well been mates for twenty plus years.

Awesome product support with the scary sharp, nice bloke to deal with.
There is a bit of a knack to achieving a fine edge using it.
I have found doing smaller knives a bit fidly.
It's great for larger knives.
Mines one of the older fixed ones, I find it gives a much much nicer edge than than my old diamond Lansky sharpener. It is also far quicker than the Lansky.
It is expensive, but is well made, stout and durable.
The wicked edge is worth considering too. Similar money to the scary sharp system and in my opinion looks to be far superior to the Lansky sharpener.
I have not used it, and for the price am unlikely to, I find for all the knives I have (too many according to the wife), then the spyderco Tri angle sharpener (which has a learning curve) does a great job of getting a nice edge, then a leather strop with some compound keeps that edge, if things go wrong (rolled steel) then either my Fallkniven dc4 if out and about or my Japanese water stone if at home does the job of fixing it, then back on the the spyderco and the strop and its hair popping sharp again.
A little touch up often on a strop seems very easy compared to strapping something into a jig, but horses for courses I suppose.
Yep, I've got one of the latest models ... it's The best thing EVER.
The first sharpen of a new blade on it takes about 20 minutes - and thereafter a touch up to bring it back to shave your arm bare will take less than 5 min.
After sales support is simply amazing - not that I've had any big problems with it.
Its worth while getting the polished stainless steel to go with it.
@ebf can attest to the sharpness of my knives ...
