    Scope got moisture in it

Asking on behalf of my husband, he purchased a scope for $349 new with his 270.
He went out about a month ago and it rained. The scope got some moisture in it and fogged up. He’s dried it out a bit but it has water marks in it and he’s written it off as useless.
I know it’s a cheaper scope being only $349 but surely it shouldn’t have got moisture in it if the seals were good and it should still be covered under warranty? (we don’t have reciept).
Seems a waste to bin it...

It will be wrecked. Take it back and see how you get on, if you take back the gun and scope you may have a case for having bought it at that store

270 is a sparsely totient number, the largest integer with 72 as its totient

    10! has 270 divisors
270 is the smallest positive integer that has divisors ending by digits 1, 2, …, 9.

Doesn't sound good, sorry. Unless you have a very decent retailer, I think you are going to struggle to get any help without a receipt. My VX-1 is in the same price range and has survived many a downpour, so something isn't right.

It was gun city Hamilton, I’m not sure how they will be to deal with it. I was almost going to just call the manufacturer.
Other than sighting in its only been used 2/3 times.

i would suggest going thru efpos/visa records to attain time date and price vs location (gun city) then take it back along with that info.

It shouldn’t have happened. Assuming that it hasn’t been for a swim I’d take it back to the retailer as it sounds as though it was not fit for purpose.

It sounds like a weaver classic

Jokes but regardless even if it is a bottom of the range "name brand" scope they will normally fix or replace it at no charge.

If he gets his money back he would get a good reliable second hand scope off here for about 300.
If they replace it he'll never trust it again.

As required by law, the dealer will have a record of the rifle sold, so therefore will know they sold the scope with it as a package. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act the seller is required to guarantee the product is "fit for purpose" Fogging within 3 months, regardless of price, is not fit for purpose for a rifle scope. Take it back to the retailer, and they have the choice of either replacing it at their cost, repairing it at their cost within a timely manner, or refunding your money. Regardless of who the wholesaler is, or what they say, your contract is with the seller. Any decent retailer should back the products they sell. Take it back to GC, along with an EFTPOS docket if possible, or bank statement showing your EFTPOS transactions, to show the date and amount paid.

I would like to take it back however we got it about 10 months ago so I’m not sure if we have a leg to stand on.
