Thread: Scope mounting your Maxtoch torch

@scottrods I suspect that light is not going to move much under the heavy recoil of that rifle

Extremely useful thread - not only for maxtochs but for other torches.

Wish we could sticky it - would save having to answer alot of questions.

Not a Max,but this works for me.Only have the torch in Aus.

I mount mine on the fore end. I find it balances better and is easier to on/off with the left hand as i only turn it on to take the shot, preferring to use a head lamp for finding the game.

Would get in the way for me, won't fit in the quad rifle rack if mine was like that.

Gadget and I get asked these questions ALL the time, and in this thread the guys' answers are absolutely spot on. Made it an excellent reference for light setups.- and good for all torches, not just Maxs.

Very pleased also to get link for that quick release tall ring from Massive - I've been after that one...

@hotbarrels do you find it catching on scrub any more than scope mounted? Quite like the idea of pressing the tailcap switch with free hand, like you I only turn it on when I'm taking a shot

I have been using these for few years - like a number of other people on the Forum.

Very effective on .308 in open ground / paddocks.

No issues at all. I flick the light on and support the fore end using the body of the light. Couldn't be more natural.

Got a couple of those on the way to try out.
The last chinese rail I bolted to my scope scratched the hell out of it, so I run a lapping bar through them first now.
I see these seem to have fabric inserts, so may not cause an issue.

Just had email chat with Amanda and Maxtoch are sourcing and will stock these items - the little picatinny rails and quick release tall rings for them, and also the plastic 8 mount:

No doubt they'll put their seller/freight margin on them, but may still be a quick way for guys to set up.

In addition to that on my AR I don't use the rail thingy, I use an offset rail mounted just behind the scope ring which brings the torch closer to your thumb for easier turning on\off.

The rail thingy for the scope and the scope rings are all 30mm with plastic inserts for 1 inch scopes so you don't scratch your scope (assuming it's 1 inch).

The quick release rings mounts solid and comes on and off with finger pressure.
