    Shipping backpack from the states

    Gday,

Looking at purchasing a new large backpack from the US. Anyone had experience with this? I've used youshop and other freight forwarding companies for clothing, obviously a pack is a pretty oversized item.. I'm not sure what shipping cost I'd be expecting to pay?

    Any tips/advice would be appreciated!

    Cheers

Don't even consider Youshop - they will somehow link it to firearm parts.

I lived in the US for 30+ years and owned ~20 back packs during that time. Cannot beat a MACPAC pack - for a "big pack" look at the 80 L Torre or 75 L Cascade. You may find lighter model but they may not be as comfortable. Try the CACTUS rifle sling if you want to carry your rifle on your back - a good light weight option that can be used on various packs.

Cheers, I'm after a specific pack though which can only be sourced from the US.

I bought a suitcase from the UK a few years back and had it shipped via youshop... stupidly I didn't look into it enough and got charged with the volumetric shipping weight (i.e. length x width x height), as opposed to the actual weight etc. It wasn't able to be flattened so I paid to ship all of the air inside it too!! If it can be flattened you should be fine though.

Can't the shop just still it direct? It's normally about $50 to get a pack shipped from the states.

Not if you're wanting to pay an incredible amount of GST & duty fees

How does using you shop change the value of the item?

I got an Alps Outdoorz Commander X last year.
    Freight was US$100
Hunting is relaxing just like Yoga except I get to kill something.

Because the purchaser has to declare the value of the item, not youshop.

You'd want to be fairly careful falsifying the value of the parcel....Not hard for customs to find out what they're worth, it'll be on the packing slip.

The other downside of devaluing is if the item goes missing, and things occasionally do, the insurance payout (assuming insured) with be reflected by the declared value.
