Most older saw blades are good steel, think Svords, but the ability to hold an edge, as opposed to take an edge, is down to the heat treatment.

Yeah as said if it's an older blade then it may be, the issue is that you don't know what steel It is and hence how to best go about your heat treat.

For a cheapish knife ($130??)the eka swing goes well. I sharpen it on a wetstone when its getting a bit dull. Will smoke through three deer boning out without a touch up at all

Antiqued hunter. Simple classic style belt knife. I fucked up the pin placement as my wood stock for the scales was shorter than I anticipated, but it still turned out OK. Lesson learned; measure that shit before you drill the holes.
Nailed the geometry on this one 10 thou behind the edge, silly sharp.

Svord drop point hunter, xmas gift from my wife. Bloody sharp. Has held its edge over the course of two years hunting so not bad!
