First knife off the bench for 2023 , 1084 German high carbon steel, composite handles of black G10 and pins with desert ironwood.
Already has a couple of deer under it's belt , always nice to see them out being used.

@viper
Just out of curiosity 1084 is an AISI number.
Why is it German steel?

New arrivals, just tested and I happy for both of the quality and...the price
Broke my wee Svord peasant knife so I gave it a new lease on life as a fixed blade

Nice. I changed out my plastic handle for an antler one too.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8d68e872b7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f3e66002cd.jpg

Made right here in sunny Nelson!
I wanted a Loveless style 'dropped hunter' ( see this thread for some beautiful things https://www.lovelessknives.com/hunting/ )
So Steve 'knocked' this up - but for less than a genuine Bob Loveless original! (January 2, 1929 – September 2, 2010)
ATS-34 Stainless tool steel @ HRC 61
Green Canvas Micarta
Mirror polished, in a 4mm Russet leather hand stitched sheath.
As with Loveless knives, you may be able to make out the wafer thin red in-lay just visible around the micarta. And I particularly like the way the steel is tapered back through the handle.
Anyway, have a nosey and see what ya think.

This weekend just past finished off an Elmax blank I made four+ years ago (Uddeholm Elmax: C 1.7%; Si 0.8%; Mn 0.3%; Cr 18%; Mo 1.0%; V 3.0%).
Overall length 243 mm, blade length 120 mm, blade thickness at spine 3.3 mm.
Heat treated by me (last time I'll do that, as the furnace's thermocouple burnt out at 1100C), tests out at HRC 57.
Hollow-ground blade, tapered tang, (lead-free) soldered brass guard, hand-made knifemaker's bolts, Orkot (kind of like micarta) handle.
Hard to get a decent photo. Inset shows detail of tapering and fit at guard.
I have always wanted a classy camp Knife fork and spoon set so commissioned Justin Williams ( under the Judge brand out of Auckland) to make a set.
Stainless, stablished Gidgee scales, canvas and deer skin roll. Very pleased with the result.

Should have added a close up of the knife above as well.

Lovely knife by Sam Harrison.
If the photos don't come through I'll fix in the morning.
