If anyone is looking for a well made knife with carbon steel similar to Svord use, but a bit different, I recommend these:
Hess Knives
The steel is Sandvik 12c27 Stainless so I'm told
Got some new G10 scales for an old Benchmade 551 I haven't been using, so now I can continue not using it but with a better handle. As seen with my limited edition SHOT show G10 Benchmade 551

A2 or 3V?
It’s A2 steel Tahr. Present from the Mrs….she did well.
If my memory serves me correctly you don’t recommend using steel on them and I presume the same applies to the lansky style sharpening kits?
A steel will work ok on the A2 'cos it's not as hard as 3v. Lansky will upset the convex profile, but will sharpen it ok. Don't worry about it too much. They are made to be used so use the method that best suits you.
If it was 3v I would be saying take more care.
Your "Mrs" made a good choice.
So here a few I made, the blank I designed and scales pre made and ready to go, my go to knife is the mircata handled one, I like it, I was going to start making knives here full time as I used to have a small forge in Ireland while I was there but there's not a lot of money in custom knives for the hours put in.....

The second shot is my A1 Falkvin camp workhorse, it has had a beating over the years and is in need of a cuddle :) the other is a victory knife, great shape, light weight for the pack as a spare and blue.... Also Swiss army's are great for general camp stuff, I like victorniox hunting knives too, they make 2 great folder droppoint style hunters, I like them.
