I know for guaranteed sure that Walnut husks / shells are used to dye wool by home spinners. I remember helping my Granny along with a bunch of other home spinners in her knitting circle collect them and watching the wool being boiled and turned in great wet skeins in the jam pan. Boiling leather is probably not the best but soaking in a liquor made from Walnuts would work I think.Quote:

This week's knife is an "Old Hickory Sticker" 6"carbon steel blade, reformed to a single blade with teak scales (a big thank you to @gonetropo :) brass pins and black micarta liner.
Knife's LOA is 265mm.

I think it would make a great camp knife. Just try and keep the blade thickness down and go for a flat grind to keep its 'slicability' of veg and meat has high as possible. Finished this friction folder. Took a bit of farting around to get the template/timing right.
Not heavy use but should handle field dressing ok.

Handle was bit thick on this one so re-profiled it. My new favourite in hand. Grunty drop point in 01 steel. Best with forced patina I think as the other one stains up pretty quick after prepping tent pegs
