    Show Us Your Bumbag

Have seen a few threads recently about day packs, or multiday packs. I usually go overnight, but will always pack my bumbag for hunting. I prefer the freedom of movement and lighter weight. If I get an animal, I’ll hang it and bone it out before packing on the meat frame on the main pack on the walk out. I’ll use this bumbag in the bush and in the tops if operating from a base camp.

Notes: I carry 2x knives after forgetting my killbag last 7 day roar trip. Normally use a Swazi Bush Shirt and leave the jacket and cup/cooker behind if doing shorter missions from camp. Filter water as I need.

So if you use one, what’s your system? What do you put in it and any handy tips.

The little Toaks cooker set is fun to use, and makes you slow down to brew a coffee or tea. Top tip. Buy Red Seal tea bags and carefully slice the foil pack at the top. Remove the tea bag, then put a big heaped teaspoon of your favourite instant coffee in and seal with your Vac Sealer. Make sure you mark it "C" for Coffee goodness.

    Enjoy

My last overnight trip i took my twin needle bumbag.....or eshay for the trendy....i had a utility bag in it with knife sharpener etc, spartan bipod then a hunters element meat carry bag wuth straps and pillowcase.....had my swazi jacket tied around my waist.....seemed to work well, could also put a small hydropac water bottle in it..... awesome for navigating the horrible kaweka front countrybtight shit when i recovered a deer...boned out deer and out in pillowcase inside a dry bag then into hunters element meat pack....

    Day trips I'm a 48lt Tatonka Norix....i prefer a few luxuries lol

Watching this with interest as I have been pondering on this for some time now. Sadly nothing to contribute from my own experience as I'm literally just getting started. Thanks for the detailed gear dump.

How did you get that colour twinneedle pouch? I thought they came only in black/orange/navy? Looks like a great set up!

Hey @JoelA contact Twin Needle. They do other colors from time to time like Forest Green, Coyote (tgis colour) and even old school Camo. They will also sew on their other accessories if you need. So get everything at once. I have resisted adding more pouches (just) so far

I always carry a bag, Cactus 45-55ltr, it scrunches down real good and the canvas is pretty quiet. I always carry a few things inside it. Trauma pack, kill kit/fire kit, Dog trauma kit and some water and ammo. GPS... If I get enthusiastic I will take some photos.

bloody hell you guys carry some stuff around - look culling hunting everyday I had a solid leather belt with a decent buckle ( pack hose brass one ) two small pouches on it one had a compass a lighter in a little plastic bag a few pieces of inner tube a small first aid kit that was not much more than several bandages - a mercator as well as sheath knife on belt - the other had ammo and a pull thru - very small bottle break free - thats it ammo ranged from 20 rounds on deer work to sometimes 150 .222 on goat work - now I still take same but have a swazi buffalo bag with binos and some plastic bags and a small light weight rain coat - if I was in a area ( mainly now hunt farms ) that was remote a GPS and always a torch (two ) one head lamp one small hand held

I too am trying to get a bumbag to work for my light, day hunting set up. Struggling to incorporate enough fluid though. Looks like some here aren't carrying any?

Size: 346.3 KB Old Cabelas Waist bag. About 12 years ago I bought an ex army shoulder harness for about $5 and made it more like a Badlands Monster waist pack. Ammo, knife etc and can add on a small clip on bag. Great for evening or day trips where camp is close. Name: 20250302_114217.jpg

@Ben99w Twin Needle do a bottle holder - you can get these sewn or or mil. Again, I can get a full 1litre hydrapak flux inside my bumbag set up. I opted against this as I can water up from streams. Saves swishing sounds and needless weight
