I've got a Bahco pruning saw (6 inch blade) and it works magic, not sure on how much they cost though as i got my one for free.

Thanks lostlegend. Is it a folding version? I think Mitre 10 stock a bit of Bahco gear, I'll try there.
Edit: Just found this on trademe, similar?

Yes, Bacho are great. Mines a fixed blade one and a bit longer. Had several and have nearly cleared the Ruahines single handed with them
If you get a Silky, they come in a couple of grades of coarseness. The most course is best.
I've had one of these for a few years and it has been good, fairly light too.
I reckon either of these will do the jobbie & way cooler than a poxy hand saw

Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it.
The Bahco folding pruning saw sounds like what I'm after, I will see if I can track down one this afternoon.
I must say some people in the states have far too much time on there hands... much like a certain nz painter (how the hell do you find these things?).![]()
Cheers.
