I've got a Bahco pruning saw (6 inch blade) and it works magic, not sure on how much they cost though as i got my one for free.

Thanks lostlegend. Is it a folding version? I think Mitre 10 stock a bit of Bahco gear, I'll try there.

Edit: Just found this on trademe, similar?

Yes, Bacho are great. Mines a fixed blade one and a bit longer. Had several and have nearly cleared the Ruahines single handed with them

If you get a Silky, they come in a couple of grades of coarseness. The most course is best.

Raging Bull the Bahco saw in your link will beat any Silky saw, we have them all at work and the Bahco will always be my first pick.

I've had one of these for a few years and it has been good, fairly light too.

Thank you all for your input, I appreciate it.

The Bahco folding pruning saw sounds like what I'm after, I will see if I can track down one this afternoon.

I must say some people in the states have far too much time on there hands... much like a certain nz painter (how the hell do you find these things?).

    Cheers.
