    Ryan's picture above (pup + gear) is why I got my Siltarp 2. Epicness. Trekking poles are normally supplied with rubber feet (think to use on rocky terrain to keep "quiet"). Throw these in your tool kit (or cut a couple of small pieces off the hose at home) and when you get there you can use on the "pointy end" to protect your tarp or ground sheet if required.
