Sleeping Bags - Down or Dacron (synthetic)

Again experts - what are your recommendations for Top Quality Bags

I prefer Down - but to be honest probably done better long run with Synthetic Bags
Prefer wide rectangular Bag over Mummy Style Bag

    So desires are:

    Lightweight
    Compact
Prefer full Zip so can be used at home as Duvet for extra bedding (or if used in a hut/house away and summer temps etc)
Water resistant (mainly from condensation from tent/fly)
    No pretty colours :-)

Main condensation may well be from your body. Down "best" insulator for its weight, but loses that title fast on getting moist/wet. If you depend on it in extremes, have vapour barriers outside and inside of bag, or the down will evt get wet - unless of course you can dry it in the morning. Synthetic insulators are more forgiving.

spend $15 at the warehouse and buy a liner whatever you go with....Ive used synthetic for years and are a very warm sleeper so sleep head and shouders out most times .gone to down as just so much smaller inside a pack,if you get into them cold it wont matter how good they are you will still be cold.
personally I believe a liner ups rating by about 5 degrees on any bag.

Are you talking like a fleece liner of some kind? Or a cheap second $15 sleeping bag? I looked on the warehouse and the sleeping bag was the only thing i could find that i think you mean?

    I would go with a Quilt, https://enlightenedequipment.com/revelation/

You can get a really warm one which is half the weight of a normal sleeping bag

Not yet, to be fair I haven't got mine yet. From the research I've done they're the bee's knees if you're wanting to cut down on size and weight. I'll have a more experienced opinion on the bag in a few weeks! Maybe I'll do a review

Are You planning to run this with an xtherm?

Yeah that's the one. I originally had a curved shaped Neo Air. Since upgraded to the Xtherm square shape which I find far more comfortable. Not much weight difference either.

Hoping the xtherm + quilt combo will work well, being that the Xtherm is meant to be 4season. Going by my research it should work well... @Nibblet
