    Socks: what do you use

The only thread I could find specifically dedicated to socks was this one:
    https://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co....-prezzy-15550/

I've been finding that the soles of the feet are getting a bit "hot" at the end of a day's walking, and at the moment am putting this down to an inappropriate choice of sock.

Literally free ones now (thanks to Uncle Sam's attempted international Democracy installment)
Some of you have them been chucked in with buys
I always was Norsewear - but hard to go back to a thicker sock now
    Strange ah

I do have some Kuiu Long ones that will come out in Winter
They are super nice - someone on FB was selling them cheap last year - swapped some boots for 6 pairs

Warehouse/Kmart standard black socks. If it's cold, or they're getting a bit thin, two pairs.

Three of us had the 'Hot Feet' thing two weekends ago, all with different boots and socks. Dont know why, but I can add it was only on the descent with heavy loads. One member wearing Norsewear work socks had his soles peel from the course weave.

An old guy told me a good trick to stop that problem - put on some thin dress type socks first before putting the Norsewear socks on, it works!

Been using Bridgedale HEAVYWEIGHT MERINO PERFORMANCE KNEE

    https://www.bridgedale.com/collectio...rformance-knee

Bought four pairs since work paid for them.

To be frank you can wear quality heavy wool socks in the sweltering 40 degree jungle heat or below freezing temps (not tried double digits).

They wick sweat away and stay fresh longer than anything else.

I have a few different pairs. Lightweight for summer and heavier for winter.
Also have A pair of Thorlo socks that I was given. Just as nice as the Bridgedale imo

I'm a bridgedale fan, had a few models, like the cushioning in the toes and heels.

Recently got a pair of boonies and got some of their socks, happy with them so far as well

I'd be keen on hearing about decent but lighter weight ones because even though I'm wearing the light weight ones in the brand I like and trust I still get sweaty feet. I'm prepared that I may need to go down a shoe size to match lighter socks.

Given up on Norsewear but I'm hard on socks as I'm in gumboots day in, day out. Went to the socks sold by Haddads, SAS or some such, in Otorohanga years ago. Their winter weight ones are too thick for North Island though I reckon. The ones I use last about 8 years if you buy a heap at once.
