    Spika Drover pack users

Hey folks, I'm looking at the 40l version. I've tried several pack carry approaches for my rifle but none of them cover every situation.

I was wondering if it's possible to pack a rifle between the bag and the frame for those times when you want the weight distribution and balance of the load "just right". Obviously it'd be a Chinese fire drill to get it off but when you're coming off the hill/heading home down a valley the chances of needing your rifle again can be quite small.

I don't see why you couldn't. The bag is completely separate from the frame, so you can put anything between them.

When you pull the straps tight, the soft bag will just "fold" around the rifle.

You could even move the load shelf's clips so the rifle sits lower.

Thanks for the idea. I'm going to try that next time .

I thought that model carried the rifle centred on the back of the pack? It has a built in rifle scabbard. Do you want it even closer to your body? Would you be knocking your head on it possibly?

Yep it has a center scabbard on the back. I use that but does work better when the pack has a bit more in it as it can flop around a bit when nearly empty on the bigger pack.
