squeaking boots pushing me right to the edge...

can anyone help with ideas to stop my damned boots squeaking?

i have two pairs of Meindl Himalayas (similar to Makalu Pro but bought over in Europe) and they both bloody well squeak (one pair both feet squeak and the other only one foot squeaks)

squeaking is coming from the top of the tongue when the tongue slides slightly round to the side. leather on leather that has gone smooth/shiny with a bit of wear. i have tried wax / vaseline etc

any ideas? i'm almost thinking i need to sew a bit of short sheepskin or something like that on one surface

    it is a terrible noise....

    Pay for them
My mother used to say that boots would squeak until they were paid for.

Had the same thing with a pair of Scarpas. Got to the stage where I would fold fresh leaves in the right spot to stop them squeaking while stalking. Finally disappeared with liberal coats of Sno Seal.

    +1 to what Tommy said

Had a mate with squeaky boots. He didn't notice it but I could hear so clearly not to mention any deer within 50m+
A bit of dubbin (and I guess Sno Seal) back at camp fixed it

Do what I do with all my hunting footwear when the leather dries out a bit & on synthetic materials in boots too. I get a tooth brush (past its use by date) & I brush in squillions of a german oil called Ballistol. It is a vegetable based oil and it works wonders on all sorts of things ( including intestinal munchie thingees!!) and I just about guarantee your squeak will be gone. Should be available from any proper hunting store???? If you can't find any, send me a PM.

    Me being helpful as always!!!!

A bit primitive compared to what you've already tried but what about getting them saturated wet and wearing them dry?

I have a pair of gronels, the right one squeaks occasionally, has done for 4 years now. They are worn just about every day. Tried neets foot oil, dubbin etc nothing seemed to work getting quieter now theyre wearing out so could be some sort of timer thing?

@jasec what do you do to stop your boots squeaking?
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Here's an odd one I learned from the motorbike game... Liquid silicone works amazingly on squeeky things. Dab a little bit on the squeeky area and see what happens. Only problem is it doesn't last, you can carry some in a little eye drop bottle though if it's driving you that loopy!
