I am keen to get a suppressor for my 6.5CM Howa. I am thinking either a DPT or a Gunworks. Keen to get one that will reduce recoil the most (long range paper/plate shooting).
Will appreciate feedback on your experiences.

I have both.
Gunworks overbarrel on a 223, and a DPT can on my 243
Both are great, but I prefer the DPT, its lighter.

For gong shooting they are the go I recon....already wearing ear protection anyway and much better recoil reduction than a suppressor and much less annoying mirage from heat build up in the suppressor.
+1 on the brake for a target based rifle (just don't try using one for bush hunting.....) fine if you won't be using it near a dog either

Have both, find that gunworks are long skinny and over barrel, dpt seems shorter and fatter

My totally uneducated guess is that it scrubs off about 20-25% of the recoil on a 308
I find a bit of the recoil is psychological with the louder sound of an unmoderated rifle so maybe there is a placebo effect at play?
Agree with Cam that brakes are best if you just want to tame recoil
Thanks for the feedback, the 6.5CM already have only moderate recoil, but I am thinking if I can reduce it even more it would help to keep sight on target after the round is sent down range. I’ll be happy with 20-25% less recoil as well as less noise.Quote:

View through scope: DPT does have a larger diameter, so the end of the suppressor may be visible through the scope at say 3x or 4x power. Whereas the MAE has a smaller diameter.
Ive got mae and gunworks mae is heavy but amazingly quiet for its size
What do you do about the mirage from a hot suppressor? Asbestos cloth? O-:
