    Svord

What's the consensus? I bought a 3" EDC Hiker on impulse from outdoor supplies, going to take it tahr hunting next week. Grind is pretty uneven from new but it's nice and light. Covered in some sticky greasy stuff, presumably to stop it rusting on the shelf in the store

Yep either a easy to sharpen knife with a steel or a knife capable of holding a good edge for the duration/no of animals expected.

I prefer the former option, because it sucks if you get the latter option wrong and end up trying to butcher things with an incredibly blunt knife.

I personally think that Svords are as ugly as a bucket of smashed crabs, badly made and over priced. my two cents
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

    DONT take a steel
If you read what Svord says on website......very fine stone or better still ceramic rods
Ive got a svord peasant knife that I literally "picked up" and its great for my hunting needs . last time we went out we had 2 reds and a pig to sort out..the Bacho did the skinning and boning and the svord the slicing and dicing...purely because of blade shape.

same. this 3" hiker weighs next to nothing though

It will be fine as you propose gimp.

The handle will end up a dirty mess though. I wonder if an embalming of the cord with an epoxy mix would fill the gaps, hold it all together and seal it?
