    It will be fine as you propose gimp.

    The handle will end up a dirty mess though. I wonder if an embalming of the cord with an epoxy mix would fill the gaps, hold it all together and seal it?

    No doubt, but that's the joy of paracord wrapping I suppose, if it gets too manly I can rip it off and rewrap it.

    Haven't got my scales here but I imagine it weighs approx the same as a Mercator, hopefully retains an edge a little longer and is a bit more solid. And doesn't rust up as much.
