Nice work, will be interested to see the different review on the cheaper version and see if the difference in price can be justified.
I've always wanted a Gurkha Kukri since doing an exercise on the West Coast with them in the early 90's, Just on the quiet they are also quite partial to the odd weka or two. Before we realized and mentioned to them they were protected bird life, they'd already caught and roasted over a small fire about half a dozen of them. Hmm a little embarrassing for the brass to try and explain that one. But you can't take away from them their strong self reliance skills in the bush...
Anyway back to the kukri - the one thing that always stopped me purchasing one was to get a good one is quite a hard feat as most are purchased and build for ceremonial reasons and the practical quality I'd head wasn't there. As well as the "what the hell will turn up on the courier if I push the button over the internet."
If you ever get a chance I'd love to see a comparison Kukri v Golock too.. or know of a good place to source these. Damn those guys had great knife skills with those things and used them for absolutely everything!!.
Cheers and thanks for the great review!
