I'm thinking of moving some stuff from my belt into a pack again (knife, camera etc - everything I only ever take out once I've stopped), and binning the bloody Ridgeline small hydro, coz its main zip is failing, grrrr
After a pikau type bag that folds completely flat, something that is well made and will last.
Anyone use either the Buffalo or Stag bags from Swazi ?
Zips are usually pretty easy to repair/replace if you want to keep using the Ridgeline.
I have the old huntec Pikau and as brilliant as it is, it needs a fuckin zip. after tying it up only to find I have forgotten to put my jacket in....Grrrrr. they are great but make an easy access zip if you can..
If you better half can sow... get her to make you one from what material you want.
I don't have a buffalo bag but their version without the fold down/up bumbag thing. Its ok I suppose had it for 8 years or something, it is a tad bulky when putting into a pack when packing in.
Comfortable to wear, but can get sweaty as on my back when full (i.e no air between)
Just looked on their site and the Stag Bag looks not too bad a.
Stag bag is pretty good. Zips up real compact
Digging up an old post. People still using theirs? Still a good day bag to take in for a multi day trip? Wish Swazi would put a few more pictures and details on their website.
I have the stag bag and never use it zipped up because you cant fit anything in it. If the taper was less, maybe just a straight rectangle it would be alot more usefull. Ideally it would fit nothing more than a rain layer food and some water and be easy to get in and out of. So I just use it as a normal bag zipped out all the time.

Yep, I use mine on every trip. I'm walking in solo with a 70l bag this weekend. Will use my stag bag as a daybag, big enough to fit a lightweight jacket + a few small bits and pieces. Could be improved as it tapers too much when closed.Quote:

Homemade jobby from a guy off the other forum. Canvas pikau - 40L ish with wide webbing shoulder straps. Carried a whole goat in it once. Rolls down to the same size as a can of beer.Quote:

I think HNTMAD has the same thing I've got. It's a Laplodge canvas pikau. It has the same hassle with a boot lace type tie the top together thing going on, so slow to get in and out of it, but it's very sturdy and well made. Heavyish too I guess. But a good capacity and doesn't catch so much when going under stuff because it has no bulk at the top. Holds blood in well. I've often paired this with my twin needle hunter's belt.

I have mine inside my huntech (nz made) 40l day bag. Seems a lot to double up but i can get away with only washing my bag every 4-6 deer and just give it an air out.
A mate pulled out a H&F purchase Huntech version, way lighter in the canvas and as a result ripped at the top brass hole. Mate was pissed to say the least. First time it was used.
Can supply and have green or yellow. $70 plus freight
