    Most proper climbing ropes are rated to 2500kg breaking strain. For lightest weight you would want an 8mm or similar. Climbing ropes have stretch in case of a fall. If you were only going to lower or for river crossings etc you could use a non stretch rope.
    It has been a while since I have done a lot of climbing so technology may have moved on.
