    Thoughts on First light puffers?

Title says it all, I’ve just worn out a faithful stoney creek puffer and am looking for a replacement. Are the first light ones worth the price? After the best lightweight to warmth, happy to pay for quality.

    Cheers in advance

Have you considered a wear on earth one from Blair in Christchurch?

Think old mate said he wants lightweight which I assume also means packable. Wear on Earth whilst good for watching the rugby or hunting from a truck or fly in trips aren't exactly packable

Is Blair doing waterproof down now? As Ryan says they aren't the smallest jacket, my woe best is bigger than my old macpac puffer with sleeves

Steven Rinella wears them , you'd be hard pressed to hunt as cold or as far as that guy

If the budget stretches, the waterproof RAB is amazing. Seamed welded so no stitching holes. Light weight and packable.

Macpac icefall is pretty good. Dwr and water resistant down etc. 800 fill weight. Packs down into a macpac uber stuff sack, which is even smaller but not nearly as warm or water resistant.

Blair makes a lightweight version, simply ask him for it and he'll produce

Last thing he made for me was a custom mid winter down sleeping bag, extremely nice

Below is my winter wear on earth puffer, pretty small and packable imo. 500grams

The firstlite lightweight brooks downjacket will be nowhere near as warm, however it will be lighter.

The big Firstlite chamberlain puffy weighs over twice as much as this wear on earth puffer.

Mate has one, he loves it, but has out couple holes in it already as the outer shell is pretty light weight and will tear easy. He thinks its warm tho. I got Blair to make me a waterproof puffer, since sold as was a bit small for me but was very warm and well made. Will look at getting him to make me a canvas one once my SC thermotough wears out.

Cheers for all the feedback guys, didn’t know about Blair’s stuff. Those Rab jackets sound good too. Being packable is definitely something I’m after that I forgot to mention

Cheers for the pic mate, what rough price range are these wear on earth ones? Are they all custom?
