    Tool for us older buggers

As we get older we need new tools and ideas for making things easier, with my son telling me he is moving over seas soon I can no longer rely on him to help me lift animals up to hang them under the house.

I decided to bite the bullet and buy a chain block, one of the best investments I could make.

Last nights deer lifted using one hand

Nice .... often thought I should investigate making something similar but super-lightweight for use in the bush..... maybe out of yachting bits?

I made one out of two AliExpress pulleys and some spare cord. Cost pennies to put together.

I mounted a boat hand winch on a pole and a couple of pullys on the shed roof. Works like a charm.

My pighunting mate put one of those electric winches in garage.next level easy. By mounting much higher than normal he can lift pig up to do lower end of it WITHOUT be ding down.

Had one of these in my pack for 40 odd years. Only recently found I needed to use it. Then found I'd left it behind lol.

I've got the same, and have it mounted on a plate with holes and chains as a poor mans winch on motorbike. Can attach it front or rear.

    Good set up.
If you set an eyelet in the concrete floor(a lot easier when you pour the floor) you can use the winch/ endless chain set up for pulling hides off.
Electric bike or 4x4 winches make it so easy. But just be aware of what your roof can handle
    Overkill is still dead.

It was one of those things I put together when I started hunting, then never used because it was just more crap to carry. I tested it on my son who was about 5 years old at the time and it worked well. It was quite funny when he was squealing "don't eat me daddy". He was laughing at the same time before anyone thinks that's child abuse! Anyway, dusted it off recently and used it on a pig to good effect. Pulled the animal up one handed with no effort.

Have done this, would recommend. You can get some crazy light dyneema rope (~5mm) and some tiny multiple pulley blocks at a yachting shop, the whole set-up is smaller than a can of beer and will hold a couple of hundred kg. Use it with some mozzy netting to make an instant meat safe. Just wrap the cord around a stick rather than your hand, the thin rope under load can cut.

Picked a 1T chain block up off TM, makes life one hell of a lot easier once the carcasses are home!
