So I ponied up and bought one of these this week, gave it a crack, got say I’m pretty impressed, it’s 4000 grit, which I don’t normally consider high enough to give a mirror edge but this little beast manages.
Makes a tool like a chisel a super fine edge, or a pair of scissors, as for knives well, actually it’s good, very good, well on carbon steel anyway, have not tried it on a stainless yet, nor a super steel, but as I’m still waiting on more stones for my Tsprof from overseas this seemed like a safe bet for trying something new.
Still getting the exact angle right as I use the stone wheel first, which is maybe a 1/2 mm smaller then the waterstone due to use, then I need to adjust the angle for the waterstone, bit of practice needed.
This is close but not quite right, bit more work and it will be there.
Incidentally I’m going to be selling off a fair few custom knives I’ve made, need to raise some money for a bandsaw, will be a few in the market place soon, some at very good prices and all extremely sharp!
