Thread: Torpedo 7 - New Market Auckland - closing down

Went to get some mountain bike gears at Torpedo 7 last weekend

To my surprised, they are closing down and offered 30% off on all advertised price (only in-store purchase and at that particular shop)
ended up with more gears with same amount of $ I was preparing to spend.

Might save someone $$ if they looking for MTB stuffs.

The warehouse just sold torpedo 7 for $1

I was told through a sales rep they had heard are going to close most of their stores and focus online similar to how Dicksmiths now works.

The days of Physical retail stores sure are on the countdown.

Semi-side note was talking to a manager at Countdown last week and she said they are looking at building dedicated non-customer shops in many areas to keep up with the growing online sales, rather than having them packed from the shelves.

given the average intelligence/bs level of salespeople now its no surprise shops are closing down
the local electronics guy at harveys knows not to bs me but lets me have fun with the new know it all sales guys

When you see what they get paid is there any wonder......something about peanuts and monkeys...

They won’t survive unless they sort their online system which I understand was “downgraded” recently for a considerable amount of coin. Recent dealings with them was a cluster of epic proportions. Invercargill and Dunedin stores have had nothing in them for quite some time and the QT store used to be very good but seemed to have backslid in recent times.

Same with the Nelson store,I went there looking for Crocs as they were advertised as being on sale fine if you are a size 10 or 11 but no other sizes.

The rumour is Countdown are supposedly building one of those warehouses in Nelson behind the Speights ale house but is more likely to be a normal shop to open in 18 months time.

Their prices where a lot sharper when they were just an online store.
