Clay Tall Stories gave us his best Soviet impression. He's been living in his Micklagaard 'Anorak Abisko' since getting it, and is pretty chuffed with its water resistance and durability.
It may feature in some of his upcoming videos. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzo...Slvhj3KKtjOUNQ
The Anorak Abisko is ideally suited to low exertion activities (i.e bush-stalking) or for static activities (glassing/at camp). It's a relatively heavy garment, but built very tough and it'll keep out any weather. Dries quickly too!
It provides plenty of ventilation via side zips, an extremely versatile hood/collar system, and adjustable cuffs.
This Anorak (like all of Micklagaard's garments) is made of a special fabric called 'Vadmal' which is made of 80% felted/silicon-impregnated wool, and 20% Rayon (which helps boost the breathability and moisture wicking properties of the wool).
Vadmal is inherently water resistant, so there's no need for taped seams, glue, waterproof coatings etc, which means there's very little to go wrong or wear out. Repairs can be carried out in the field with minimal tools.
Micklagaard offers this anorak in standard sizes (from XS - 4XL), but can custom tailor it to fit your unique dimensions and make small modifications (i.e add snap fasteners, extra leather, shoulder/elbow padding etc). Custom tailoring will incur a 20% upcharge.
Micklagaard is a family owned and operated company, based in Hagfors Sweden. All of their garments are hand built by a small team of dedicated tailors, and if you order a custom garment, you will deal directly with the owner of the company.
It is being offered for approx $680 NZD. www.micklagaard.com
A 15% forum discount will still be offered, and will likely persist for the remainder of this year.
