    Tripods

    What’s working for you?

I’m after a dual purpose tripod. Stable enough for standing shots/PRS/spotlighting but able to bring along on decent multi day hunts.

Really I’m after this. Ticks the boxes of compact (no centre collum), stable with 36mm legs and tall enough to use on the range with a spotter. But there’s lighter options and I imagine I will end up having to get a smaller option for hunting.

Then something smaller for big trips up big hills like:

Or would one of these 32mm work as an all rounder do it aller?

Anyone been down this rabbit hole?

Have a look at Tricer tripods and panheads, sold out of modern hunter au. I have the shorter one with the pan head, stabilises a 1.7kg spotting scope, also handles a 7 prc just fine

Sweet will do. Pretty sold on this style ball head or an anvil30 knock off, but I’m stuck on the tripod to go with it.

I'm using one of Ken's Sunwayfotos and have been very happy with it so far.

Light and stable with a pic rail and arca clamp. The only thing I had to do was tweak the tension on the leg hinge screws and loctite the ball head's throw lever retention screw. That way I could deploy the legs easier and nothing would come loose.

Used it on roos out in hilly country. It wasn't as quick to deploy as my mate's simple vanguard shooting sticks but I was never that far behind, as the ball head has enough travel that you haven't got to spend time leveling the thing. And the rifle was so stable it was practically cheating.

I'd have no problem using it at a PRS competition. A beefier one would be a bit more suitable for that, sure. But I'd never want to take it hunting.

Haven't measured it myself. Spec says 28/25/22mm.
