Yep, mine still shaves my arm (carefully does it moving arm not axe) after 6hours of splitting 3 foot diameter pine rings. Imagine using it to cut will dull it more but i keep being impressed my it each time i pick it up

Reminds me of My grandad when I was a kid. Axeman who had several tuatahi axes. ( still top choice I think)As @Shelley says they had different purposes. He was known as someone who could punch a lot of wood and preferred the bigger block to account for his handicap.

I like their throwing model.

They are now doing a smaller (and cheaper) camp axe.... bugger would have suited my uses more but that's life!

Anyone had a go at sharpening theirs? I know you can get the jig and stones but dont think I will be using it enough to justify the cost. Haven't damaged it at all yet and can still easily shave with it but wondering for how long

Cheers might try a few goes with my mitre 10 cheapo first!

Will add to this thread rather than start a new one....

Has anyone had a go at re shaping one of their China head into a splitter? Using a fiskars x25 or x27 depending on ring size. While there is nothing wrong with them I'd prefer to use a wooden handle (and they would match in my axe case)

Sounds like they used to do it but are too busy these days. Anyone got a bench grinder and a bit of spare time to hang it on one of their handles??
