Twin Needle MolleMe vs Cactus Alpine Miklat vs others

    Hi all,

I'm in the process of buying a day / ultralight overnight pack. I've heard awesome things about the Cactus miklat in particular from the forum.

I'm aware that MacPac packs rate highly, but can't find anything I really like on their website.

I"m looking 30-50L, super durable and in canvas or cordura.

I was just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with the MolleMe made by Twin Needle? And what other packs are out there that are worth considering?

I don't want something with too many bells and whistles.

Have a look around for a second hand one of these:

Macpac Pursuit Classic 50L (also come in blue!) Its more of an alpine pack but its a good size and nice and slim up top with a fat arse - like most kiwi girls!

I also have a Cactus Miklat as a day pack - F*cking awesome but a bit small for overnight stuff (for me anyway)

I have one of these and it is not very comfortable under load.

If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

    Kuiu have some nice gear.
Keen on a down jacket and some down gloves for the ballot season. Seem reasonably priced as well.
They have that urban cam pattern which is useful for duck season. They will be getting some coin off me this year.

I will be looking at the TwinNeedle gear at the sika show. My pikau is pretty good for bush hunting but not as convenient as it could be for a tops trip or for field shooting.

My current down jacket and solstice sleeping bag are covered in duct tape.
I hear they are good at refilling and repairing such gear at twinneedles?

Hmm a good backpack is worth its weight in gold and and a bad one can seriously ruin your day (and back).
I have a lot of Macpac stuff from back in the day when it was made in NZ and was a brand to be proud of (even if an American started the company), the feather in their cap was the harness/carry system that was way better than anything else out there at the time (there is a reason it was used for a lot of Everest expeditions). Not sure now if that's still true, Cactus, on the other hand makes bombproof stuff, and would be what I would replace my stuff with now...

Whatever you choose make sure you try the thing under load, take along the stuff you want to put in it and see if it's comfortable, if not find something that is, seem like a fuss but you will appreciate this in the hills.
