I read a review for Therm-A-Rest Space Cowboy 45 $299 recently in the Wilderness Magazine and thought it would be ideal for the very same purpose that you outlined.
Took this image to remind me
Would be interested to hear from any one who has one of these

Lighter/smaller than the above Thermarest and with a lower temperature limit, works very well as a summer bag for me as it breathes very well and covers into early Autumn and late Spring. the SPI model is lighter again but unsure where to find it

I got a summer weight bag off here a month or so ago, believe it is a torpedo 7. It works ok but the zip is either all the way up and secured by a Velcro tab or it undone, it is a 'slippery' zip and just undoes itself if you move around in the bag
I have one of these and its actually impressively warm for its size and weight

So that's why @Philipo smiles so much
Exped ultalight 300 is a great lightweight summer bag, can shift the down to the top & use with a theramarest, wear ya thermals when it gets real chilly. Works mint
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
I've got one of these for light summer trips - 530g, packs down smaller than a down jacket, does the job ok and good value.
