It was my T7 mat that @Moa Hunter tried, and I went out and bought 2 more. I really rate them for performance vs. cost. They weigh more than a Neo and may not last as long, but at about 1/7 the price (on special) I don’t care

My Exped from Bivouac was not overly expensive and it’s great
I was sleeping under a fly a week ago on my thermarest neoair xlite, whilst my cousin had his brand new exped ultralight synmat. Had a hole in it within minutes of blowing it up. He glued it up and we went hunting but it went down again a few hours after going to sleep. The exped is definitely more comfortable to sleep on with its lengthways ribs as it’s easier to not roll off but the base fabric is very fragile in my opinion

I've had many many nights on Expeds over the last... I don't even know how long I've been using them, must be 6+ years between the Downmat Lite 5 and Hyperlite. Never had a single puncture (but they do come with puncture repair kits).
Thought I had a leak once, but it was some grass stuck in the valve stopping it from sealing properly.
Bit of both, but mostly in a tent or rock bivy. When straight on the ground I tend to find a clear spot instead of just plonking it on top of sharp rocks or spaniards anyway, that just seemed like common sense.
A small piece of tyvek under your mat gives excellent protection when using a fly
I use a klymit one that I got from equip outdoors. seems to work, prob heavy-ish by standards at 600grams though

Bought a JR gear Presidon Insulated mat off gearshop for $90 on sale + $15 for their drybag which doubles as a pump sack for the mat. Pretty happy with it for the price, 9cm thick and an R value of 5.2. Used it a couple of times now, hasnt gone down overnight, pretty comfortable and not very noisy. https://www.gearshop.co.nz/products/...ed-mat-scarlet
Shit that looks the buisness might have to order one, I spent a couple nights on my ultra light matt and was left wanting for comfort. @uk_exile check the link it has the weights for the 3 different designs.
A general question, which sleeping pads fold in half before rolling? Might seem an odd question however did a bush bash about a month ago using a mat that was wider than backpack and it snagged on everything. Nightmare. Had it strapped across bottom of pack. Couldn't change it to vertical as no suitable straps on back.
@Jvaughan, oops, have seen the weight now on the gearshop website. Didn't see it when first looked. 650gm is comparable with the T7 mat
