Was still within warranty last year and they replaced it for free but has started doing it again. The watch stays on my wrist 24/7 so might be different if take it off for showers ect not that you should have to.
The GPS watches from Garmin look the shit but are a bit bigger and have to charge them weekly.

I've got the 'simple' G-shock too.
Take it off for showers, swimming and bed - 2 years on, no problems.
Looking at my user guide - says it's pressure tested to 10M water depth - but also says 'Do not immerse in hot or warm water'.
Never tried to 'test' the depth guarantee though or the temperature.
