Thread: Wet weather pants

Hi guys what are people using for water resistant/waterproof pants? I want something better than fleece but still quiet in the bush. Preferably not through the roof expensive if thats possible! Thanks in advance

i like nylon togs type shorts. they dry fast!

I've got some Kuiu wet weather gear and I swear it's the best wet weather gear I've ever used for hunting. Pricey but worth it. Actually I think there is some of their older stuff in the outlet section of the website.

I like @JoshC Advise but I have the Swarzi over pants wore them all last winter in the snow, here in the uk. Also while digging out a few duck ponds. Whilst using the water blaster...even used the water blaster on them to clean off a load of mud blood whilst still wearing them.
Was still dry after that and just to top that off 9 to 13 days shooting hunting in them. Even good to sit on the wet ground with out getting a damp ass. So yes water proof. But for me you will need a base layer. As for me they aren't warm. So if it's snowing and your standing still then long johns and some other over wear. I've got thin blood our I'm just a shizering dude that need to man up
Also keep the bottom dome clean as this can fill with mud and then be a bugger to shut.
Yep I'd buy them again. Good in blackberry as well to of my shoots where in some fairly tough scrub filled country.
Again really happy with the purchase. Shorts are ok till you stop or get stuck then you need all the cover you can get.

The conclusion I've come to is that if your walking, especially up hills, you're going to get hot regardless of the ambient temperature (within reason obviously), but as soon as you stop, you need good insulation. I've tried all sorts of waterproof pant and you just get hot/sweaty when walking, even with the most expensive Goretex. I'm going with $10 shorts from Warehouse now.

Swazi have 2x pairs that are reasonably priced and effective. I would also consider Earth Sea Sky. They're top of the line though.

Old school is best. Home-made sack cloth shorts.

And if its raining make sure you double wrap your cold stew sandwiches in grease proof paper.

So you claim not to be a follower of fashion then ?? However I detect a bit of a "closet door" because you do actually hang out - with the "in crowd" on here . . . . Hahahaha

I prefer a jacket that goes down past my shorts, my legs are still pretty waterproof
Problem is now it seems everyone makes short jackets so shorts get wet pushing thru wet scrub, not nice

I have a pair of swazi pants that are ok noise wise but get real heavy when they get wet. In need of a good water proofing so weather that helps with them soaking up the water i will have to wait in see
