What do you have in your kit others may welcome knowing?

Thought I would start a thread about those little things we all have that makes life easier. I have been hunting with people and see something they have and think.....I’m going to get one of those! So if you have something either bought, borrowed or made share it. It might help all of us.

I will start the ball rolling with two recent acquisitions

Firstly a simple plastic holder for spare bullets. Yes we all have pouches and day packs but many of us still like a round or two in our pocket. This cheap item holds them and stops them rattling in your pocket.

Second is a Niggeloh rifle sling. However with a difference. This one has an ingenious quick attach so you can attach to sling sling attachments if you don’t have the QR type on your rifle. I have some sakos etc that taking the original sling attachment off would devalue. So this is an innovative way to have a sling fitted quickly in such cases.

A piece of tyvek building paper folds into nothing the pack for sitting on the ground when glassing. Keeps the bum and legs dry.

A pair of rubber kitchen gloves. They have so many uses. Keeping "muck" off your hands when you are places that its not easy to clean them. Stops wind chill if you really need it, and a multitude of other uses.

DIY Z-Aim sling. Solution to keeping rifle on shoulder, even with a big backpack. Cost pennies to make. There have been a few threads/posts about this.

@Southcity, where did you get the cartridge holders pls.

And could you post a photo of the sling attached to a swivel stud, I am struggling to understand how that works.

Here are three things that I enjoy having. The bolt bag is great for when we head away with the rifle on a trip although some times my wife complains when I ask her to put them in her handbag. A closed cell pad that folds up for sitting in wet or rocky conditions and a small butane torch for lighting the fire.Name: 20200510_121810.jpg

.....Nash, in his completely unguided dorkiness has banned tracer ammunition by order in council in NZ (it' part of the COLFO lawsuit against the Minister of Police)

@ebf the cartridge holders I purchased from Denmark. Actually from Znikiz who make brilliant turret replacement rings for Swarovski Z5/Z6’s. ( rather than the colours on the std turret rings they have graduated distances. ). I go to Europe a few times a year. I can buy some if you want some next time I’m there. ( not sure when I will go next!) here’s the link if you want to order some. Seem a great outfit to deal with. They are hunters themselves.
