What head torch are people using?

Both the missus and I require new head torches, I currently have a Led Lenser H14 and she a H7, they are both pretty old and had a hard life and am a bit sick of using AA and AAA batteries.
Would ideally like something that runs of 18650 batteries that are removable, but can also be charged in the light by USB etc.

I use mine a lot for spot lighting do a tight beam is a must, I like that the H14 can be focused.
The missus really just needs a good flood option, and she finds my H14 to big and heavy so doesn't need something that big.

The Maxtoch torch seems to be the preferred option for a torch and I see that there is now a head torch they make, anyone using one?
Google searches are showing the Fenix HL60R and Nitecore HC60 as being popular, but all thr above options seem to be pretty big and heavy, so more a replacement for my H14.

    Any advice is appreciated.
    Cheers

I’ve got the Maxtoch h1 headtorch, I like it. Good flood beam but not able to be focused. The centre of the flood is brighter but not a tight spot.

Little Maxtoch HO1 is a good wee walker/camp light but not designed for long range. We did start working on an LR headlamp with the company but haven't really progressed the idea. I use something like these basic chinese models with some tweaks:

    Buy SingFire SF-522 Cree XM-L T6 1000lm 3-Mode White Light Headlamp - Black + Silver (2 x 18650)

    Buy SingFire SF-520 Cree XM-L T6 900lm 3-Mode White Light Headlamp - Black (2 x 18650)

You can spend hundreds on LedLenser stuff or you could buy one of above with a smooth reflector and ask gadgetman nicely if he'd drop in a dedomed upgrade led in it. Mine is very good - range 300m+

Brian - the second one looks quite interesting..

The one that gets the main use is a US$14 one off Ali that Gadgetman de-domed. Much like the ones Mike mentioned above . Twin 18650s, plenty good enough for possies at 100yds. Nailed two a couple of nights ago. You don't cry if you murder or lose one of those.

Personally I like my "Gadgetman Special" for outdoors stuff however for work I use a LED LENSER SEO5 as I don't like having all the battery and crap hanging off the back of my noggin especially as I spent a lot of time working or crawling in tight spaces. They are real battery chompers though!! I use one set (3 AAA's) per day literally every day.

Using a Maxtoch H01 (the older one) as the red Led is much brighter than the new model. The wife has the new model H01, and being able to charge the battery while it's still in the torch is a great feature, but never used, as I charge 4 cells at a time so I have a bunch of spares charged and ready to go.

Plenty of throw and spill for comfortably walking with both models. Have the modified maxtoch 2X for everything over 50 meters, so don't need much more from a head torch.

I use the h14 and do enjoy having a bright light at times. Down side is it sucks the battery's. I cut back through a bush gulley the other night on the farm, freak me between supple jack and onga onga even with the extra power i struggled to get through. Used to be happy with a little petzl or a little maglite torch

+1 Led Lenser SEO7R, I like the recharge feature. Means I have 3 less batteries rattling around.

Sorry to thread hijack, but are you guys using the head torch to spot rabbits, or whatever and then using the head torch to light up the quarry for your scope? Does that work well?

    Headlamp
I have an older model of the first one. Great light. No focus but the centre of the beam is stronger. I see they do a 1600 lumen one now.
